Girona Moves to Sign Marc Bernal on Loan
Sunday 07-12-2025
Girona FC continues to monitor the situation of Barcelona's young player Marc Bernal, who has struggled with limited playing time this season after returning from a serious injury that kept him off the field for an entire year. Despite his recovery, the player has only played 120 minutes spread across eight matches, as Barcelona is handling his condition with great caution.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Girona is considering applying to loan Bernal until the end of the season during the winter transfer window, in an attempt to strengthen the team after a difficult start this year.

The idea is based on replicating the successful loan experience the club had with Eric Garcia two seasons ago, during which the player showed significant development while with the team.

Girona believes that Bernal needs a consistent amount of playing time and continuous involvement at the elite level, which the club can provide to help him return to his best form. The newspaper had noted last November that Bernal was still ruling out any move in the winter transfer window, with his future to be decided based on his participation in the remaining matches of 2025.

Barcelona emphasizes that the only option available is a loan, due to their strong confidence in the player's future, especially after renewing his contract until 2029 and setting a hefty release clause of 500 million euros to deter clubs interested in signing him.
