Spanish coach José Lana expressed his happiness with his team's advancement to the group stage of the 2025 Arab Cup.

The Syrian national team defeated the South Sudan national team 2-0 in the qualifying playoff for the competition.

The tournament will kick off next Monday and continue until December 18.

The coach of the Syrian national team said in statements to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that he was satisfied with the performance shown by the team during the match held at Hamad Al-Kabeer Stadium. He confirmed that the match was difficult and that it was possible to perform better against the opponent, as caution dominated the style of play between the two teams.

Regarding Syria's match against Tunisia next Monday, José Lana said: "We will prepare for the upcoming match in a different way."

He added: "We know the task will be difficult, and we are waiting for several players who missed the previous match against South Sudan to join us. We hope to have our full squad before the match against Tunisia so that we are in a good position."

Lana explained that each match has its own circumstances and considerations, emphasizing that all members of the Syrian national team hope to make a strong impression in this tournament and bring joy to the Syrian fans who strongly supported the team in the match against South Sudan.
