Spalletti: Our Playing Style Made It Difficult, and This Is What the Players Need
Thursday 27-11-2025
Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti appeared in a press statement following the 3-2 victory over Bodø/Glimt in the fifth round of the Champions League group stage.

Juventus was trailing 1-0 in the first half in Norway, but the introduction of Kenan Yildiz gave the team a strong boost, as he contributed to the goals of Luis Obanda, Weston McKennie, and Jonathan David, turning the score in favor of the Bianconeri.

The coach said, "The team played in an open and attacking style, which was sometimes challenging because Bodø/Glimt has amazing passing and quick thinking on this field, which looked intimidating when you consider their previous home matches."

He added: "We didn't fully take advantage of some easy opportunities in the first half, then after the break, they doubled their attacks and pressed hard. This is an important victory, deserved by the players, and we dedicate it to ourselves and to our fans who traveled to watch us here."

He added, "It's not just about the choices, but about ensuring the full development of all team members. I am happy today because I saw happy faces, or at least more relaxed ones. Players are human and feel the pressure when things go wrong."

Regarding the difficulty of playing on the artificial turf in Bodø: "The team kept up the pressure, made good movements, and had great periods of play. Everyone finds it challenging here, as the home team feels that everything moves faster and they can breathe more easily in this climate. There are many difficulties."

He emphasized: "The players need to grow in terms of confidence and courage, and we need an extra step in mentality and training because we don't have the right rhythm during training sessions. Some players are not in their best condition, and we need to test that in real matches, not just in training."

He concluded: "The players felt the weight of everything being said about them, and they didn't have the freedom to make their own decisions and play as they wanted. But after this second half, they did what they had to do and deserved the three points."
