Shobeir: Maaloul Deserved to Continue with Al Ahly
Sports journalist Ahmed Shobeir confirmed that Al Ahly's management decision to let player Ali Maaloul leave was hasty.
In radio statements, Shobeir said that Al-Ahly was hasty in not extending Maaloul's contract for an additional season, especially after the player regained his form in the Tunisian league and returned to his national team to participate in the Arab Championship and possibly the Africa Cup of Nations.
He added: "Honestly, I thought he could have continued for another season with Al Ahly, and that's my personal opinion."
Maâloul left Al Ahly's ranks last July to join Tunisian club CS Sfaxien on a free transfer.
