Pérez Cites Barcelona Star's Stance to Reject Playing Plan in Miami
Sunday 23-11-2025
Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, has issued sharp criticism regarding the plans to move a La Liga match between Barcelona and Villarreal to Miami in the United States.

Pérez considered this decision to be completely abnormal, expressing surprise that the president of the league association, Javier Tebas, is the one promoting it, which raises questions about the principle of fairness and the distortion of competition in the domestic league.

To emphasize his stance, Pérez pointed out that even Barcelona player Frenkie de Jong does not see this matter as normal. This criticism from a player belonging to one of the two involved teams adds weight to Pérez's position and confirms that the issue is not merely a rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona, but rather concerns fundamental sporting principles.

De Jong had openly expressed his opposition to this idea, explaining that it is unfair and causes fatigue for the players due to long travel. The Dutch player also criticized the fact that players' opinions were not taken into account in this decision, pointing out that financial gains do not justify harming the competitive and sporting aspects.
