Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, revealed in an interview with Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, scheduled to be broadcast on Sunday on the French channel Canal Plus, that he felt great discomfort when he saw the "Lions" full-back burst into tears during the CAF awards ceremony held in Rabat a few days ago.

As soon as Hakimi entered the filming location for the episode, Rekraki greeted him with a hug and playful words, saying: "You look like you've grown... maybe because you became the best player in Africa this year."

During the interview, Rekraki explained that he was surprised by the emotional state in which the Paris Saint-Germain star appeared on the stage, adding: "When I saw Achraf's tears, I told Rachid Benmahmoud that something was not right."

He continued: "It's better that he doesn't play until the start of the continental tournament... He just needs a period of rest, and I am confident that he will come back stronger."

It is worth mentioning that Achraf Hakimi was awarded the Best African Player of 2025 after an exceptional season with Paris Saint-Germain, during which he won four titles, most notably the UEFA Champions League, as well as the French Ligue 1, the French Cup, and the French Super Cup.
