Fans of African and global football are eagerly awaiting the launch of the CAF Awards 2025, as the Confederation of African Football prepares to announce the continent's best during a grand celebration held tonight in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
The CAF Awards showcase the most prominent names who made a difference in African football during the year, whether at the level of male or female players, coaches, or national teams, while highlighting emerging talents who have made a remarkable presence in various tournaments.
This year's ceremony is held at Mohammed VI University in Rabat, today, Wednesday, November 19, at 7:00 PM Morocco time, 8:00 PM Cairo time, and 9:00 PM Mecca time, amid widespread fan following.
The event can be followed live online through the beIN Sports News channel on YouTube, as well as the Confederation of African Football’s official channel, which will broadcast the full ceremony segments, including artistic performances and showcases.
The ceremony this year is hosted by Beninese artist Angelique Kidjo and Moroccan comedian Woulass, with musical performances by Moroccan singer Douaa Lhayawi, Congolese artist Oyelo Longomba, and Ghanaian musician Fuse O DJ.
The awards list includes multiple categories, the most prominent being: Best African Player, Best African Female Player, Best Player Within the Continent, Best Men's Coach, Best National Team, Best Goalkeeper, in addition to awards for young talents and "Goal of the Year."
The women's club football awards will be announced later due to the ongoing CAF Women's Champions League tournament in Egypt involving women's teams.
Mohamed Salah, Achraf Hakimi, and Victor Osimhen lead the race for the Best African Player award in 2025, while Pyramids FC competes with Renaissance Berkane and Sundowns for the Best Club award. Pyramids players Mohamed Chibi and Feston Mayele are also among the nominees for Best Player Within the Continent.
In the goalkeepers’ category, Yassine Bounou and Munir Mohamedi compete alongside South African Ronwen Williams, while Ahmed El-Shenawy was excluded from the final list despite winning three titles with Pyramids this year.
The Best Coach category witnesses a strong competition among Walid Regragui, Mohamed Wahbi, and Robista, after the exclusion of Hossam Hassan and Vukcevic from the final lists. Several Moroccan, Nigerian, and Ghanaian names are also present among the nominees in the women's and youth categories.
Moroccan presence is also strong in the "Goal of the Year" award through goals by Ghazlan Al-Shibak, Osama El Milyawi, and Abdullah Wazzan, which captured attention during the season.
