Italian League a Potential Destination for Füllkrug
Monday 17-11-2025
Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano reported news about the imminent departure of German striker Niclas Füllkrug, a player for West Ham United, during the winter transfer window in January. The player's agent, Thorsten Wirth, confirmed that a change might be "logical" after a difficult period the striker spent in London since joining from Borussia Dortmund for a fee exceeding 27 million euros. This decision is attributed to the player's recurring injuries and decline in scoring, which affected his chances of participating with the German national team.

According to various sources, Füllkrug prefers to return to Germany or move to the Italian league, and his name has already been offered to several interested clubs in Italy. Among the clubs that have shown interest earlier are the German clubs Wolfsburg and Augsburg, in addition to the Italian club Milan, which is said to be in a good position to acquire his services. However, the transfer may not be easy, as West Ham demands a "significant" amount to release the player and wishes to secure a suitable replacement before allowing him to leave.

Füllkrug has suffered from bad luck with injuries since joining West Ham, which has significantly affected his performance. Last season, he scored only three goals in 18 league matches and failed to score in six league matches this season before suffering another injury in October. His agent believes these injuries led to a "negative momentum" that affected the player's career, and the current evaluation of the deal is that it "did not succeed."

Füllkrug's interest in leaving comes within the framework of his desire to regain his physical fitness and scoring level, aiming to secure a place in the German national team's squad for the 2026 World Cup. The player seeks to find a club that ensures regular participation and helps him return to his level, especially after being warned by the German national team coach, Julian Nagelsmann, that his participation in the World Cup might be at risk.
