De La Fuente: This is the Reason for Housen's Exclusion, and We Haven't Officially Qualified Yet
Sunday 16-11-2025
Luis De La Fuente expressed his satisfaction with the victory against Georgia with a score of 4-0 in the fifth round of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

He began his speech: "Qualifying for the World Cup? Out of respect for the opponent and all teams, we must wait. Our duty is to stay grounded, and until qualification is officially achieved, we must maintain the same stance."

On the unbeaten run (30 matches): "Another reason that makes me proud of these players whom I have the honor of leading. We still have a road ahead of us. More things and achievements can be accomplished... and these are young players who do not stop developing."

He continued about the injuries: "These injuries provide an opportunity for young players with great quality, which they might not have received under other circumstances. This is a success for the clubs, and we benefit from it. There is a lot of work behind these players from the clubs, the players, and the federation."

On the exclusion of Dean Housen: "He is suffering from slight discomfort, and the technical staff's priority is to protect the player's health, even if some do not understand that. He underwent tests, and the doctors are in contact with Real Madrid's doctors, and we will assess his potential participation in the next match."

He concluded about facing Turkey in the final round to be held in Seville: "I hope the stadium appears exceptional with the usual Seville atmosphere. The players deserve it, and qualifying for the World Cup deserves it. Seville never disappoints."
