Al-Bukayri Attacks Al-Ittihad's Decision to Renew Sharahili's Contract
Friday 14-11-2025
Sports journalist Mohammed Al-Bukayri sharply criticized the management of Al-Ittihad Club after they announced the renewal of the contract for the team's defender Ahmed Sharahili, despite him undergoing an intensive rehabilitation program following a recurrence of his injury, deeming the decision incomprehensible.

Al-Buqiri pointed out that renewing the contract with an injured player who is thirty years old, like Ahmed Shrahili, raises many questions, despite acknowledging his great abilities and his significant role in achieving the 2023 league title with the team's stars.

He pointed out that Al-Shahrani's absence from the fields for two consecutive seasons was due to a medical error during the surgery he underwent previously, which made his return to competitions more difficult.

He added that the rumors about the player's lack of commitment to his rehabilitation program have also contributed to prolonging his absence, which makes his fitness and technical condition unclear so far.

Al-Buqayri questioned the artistic benefit that the club might gain from renewing the contract of a defender who suffers from recurring injuries, especially when there is an opportunity to sign a young local defender who could provide future contributions.

He concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the renewal decision is a high-risk step, considering that the club could have invested this position in a ready player instead of betting on a defender he described as 'one-legged.'
