Clarification on the Red Card Cancellation for Ayman Dahman
Thursday 13-11-2025
The National Arbitration Administration issued a clarification statement today, Saturday, November 8, 2025, regarding the red card received by the goalkeeper of the Sporting Club of Sfax, Ayman Dahman, at the end of his team's match against Esperance Sportive as part of the 12th round of the Professional League.

The administration confirmed that the decision by the National Professional Football League to cancel the red card issued on Friday evening was not due to a refereeing error, but rather to an administrative issue related to the procedures involved in drafting the official match report.

The statement clarified that such cases require a detailed report from the referee, which was not submitted in this incident, leading to the cancellation of the red card issued by referee Faraj Abdel Lawy against Dahman.

The administration renewed its full support for referee Abdel Lawi, confirming that the dismissal decision was legal based on documented violations, and that the referee carried out his duties on the field with integrity and responsibility.

The statement reads: "The cancellation is not due to a refereeing error on the field, but rather to a purely administrative reason related to the drafting of the report. The correspondence from the National Professional Football League dated October 1, 2025, stipulates that the enforcement of penalties according to Article 43 bis (paragraph B) requires the precise and literal recording of the words and infractions by the referee. In the absence of this detail, it was impossible to uphold the penalty, without implying that the referee's decision was incorrect."

The National Arbitration Administration concluded its statement by emphasizing the importance of accuracy in official reports, urging all referees to adhere to professional responsibility, and appealing to all sports parties to respect referees' decisions and work together to reduce instances of violence in Tunisian stadiums.
