Alonso Follows Mourinho's Path Before Facing Liverpool
Thursday 30-10-2025
Spanish coach Xabi Alonso of Real Madrid has made a notable decision before the anticipated match against Liverpool in the Champions League, reviving a method previously used by Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho during his time at the royal club.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Marca," Xabi Alonso decided not to hold the final training session at Anfield before facing Liverpool, contrary to what the team has been accustomed to in previous seasons.

The report clarified that Real Madrid will conduct its final training session on Monday morning at the Valdebebas center in the Spanish capital, Madrid, before the team travels in the afternoon to England, where they will visit Anfield only for the pre-match press conference.

This decision marks a shift in Real Madrid's policy, as the team was among the few that usually continued to train at the opponent's stadium on the eve of European matches, which will now change with Alonso's new approach.

This decision recalls the period of Jose Mourinho with Real Madrid, when he was the first to decide to forgo training at the opponent's stadium and instead conduct the final session at Valdebebas before traveling for away matches.

Real Madrid is preparing to face Valencia next Saturday in La Liga, before traveling to England to meet Liverpool on Tuesday in the fourth round of the Champions League.

The royal team has an impeccable record in the tournament so far, having achieved three consecutive victories, while Liverpool has won two matches and lost one.
