Kompany: I Don't Feel the Pressure, Our Goal is to Reach the Cup Final
Vincent Kompany, the head coach of Bayern Munich, confirmed that he does not feel any discomfort from the pressures ahead of the match against Cologne tomorrow, Wednesday, in the second round of the DFB-Pokal, noting that the team is dealing positively with difficult situations.
Kompany said during the press conference held today, Tuesday: "I always love it when we are under great pressure; it has not had a negative impact on the team. When the performance is right, we always have a chance to qualify or win the three points."
Bayern Munich holds the record for the most wins in the tournament with 20 titles, but they have not reached the final since 2020 and have exited the competition in the second round three times in the last five seasons.
The Belgian coach added: "The pressure does not bother me; the desire to reach the cup final is not only among the fans but also among us."
Jonas Urbig, the former goalkeeper of Cologne, will take over the goalkeeping duties for Bayern Munich in the match instead of the suspended Manuel Neuer, with Kompany praising him by saying: "He has proven to be at a high level despite his young age, and he has the ideal environment with Neuer and Ulreich; he is on the right path."
Kompany concluded his statements by affirming that Neuer's participation in the team's trip to Cologne has not yet been decided, explaining: "It is up to him whether he will join us or not; his preparation for the match against Leverkusen in the league is essential."
