Arnold's Struggles at Real Madrid
Tuesday 28-10-2025
The Spanish newspaper 'Marca' reported that English star Trent Alexander-Arnold is facing significant difficulties adapting to Real Madrid and the playing style of Xabi Alonso.

According to the report, the English defender has not yet managed to establish himself in the right-back position due to the tactical approach differing from his usual style, alongside his muscular injury last September.

The report states that Federico Valverde's fate in midfield is now linked to Arnold's performance, as the latter needs to prove himself defensively to regain his spot in the starting lineup, thereby maintaining his chances of participating in the 2026 World Cup with the England national team.

The newspaper clarified that Valverde prefers to play in midfield, but he has recently been forced to occupy the right-back position due to the absence of Arnold and Carvajal. With the return of Bellingham and Camavinga, who started in the Clasico, his chances of returning to midfield have become limited.

The source concluded that Xabi Alonso rarely relies on three defenders in the backline, and in the recent Clasico match, he used Camavinga as a false right winger, which restricted the space for Valverde on the right side, causing him to find himself out of his preferred position once again.
