Dinamo Zagreb Moves to Activate Ismaël Bennacer's Purchase Clause from Milan
Croatian media reports have revealed that the management of Dinamo Zagreb intends to activate the purchase clause for Algerian international Ismaël Bennacer from Italian club Milan, following the impressive performances he has delivered since joining the team on loan during the last summer transfer window.
According to the Croatian website sportvijesti, Bennacer "made a strong impression in a short period and proved to be a top-class player who exceeds the level of the local league," adding: "Although he is still far from being fully fit, he clearly showed why he is considered one of the smartest midfielders to have played for Dinamo in the last decade. His calmness, broad vision, and ability to dictate the pace on the field are all traits that underscore his significant technical value."
The same source noted that Bennacer's impact was evident during the recent match against Osijek, as Dinamo's performance declined immediately after his exit in the 69th minute, reflecting the importance of his role in midfield.
Regarding his future, reports indicated that Dinamo's management has already begun to study activating the purchase option from Milan before the end of the loan next summer, especially since the Croatian club currently covers only 25% of the player's annual salary, which amounts to €3.8 million, with a purchase clause set at €9 million.
Sources added that the club's president, Zvonomir Boban, plays a crucial role in this deal, given his strong relationship with Bennacer since he was responsible for bringing him to Milan from Empoli in 2019, confirming that "Boban may use his influence to convince Milan to sell the player permanently, especially since his contract with the Rossoneri expires in the summer of 2026 and the club no longer relies on him much."
The newspaper also pointed out another possibility of activating the purchase option with the aim of reselling the player later to achieve a significant financial profit, as part of the new policy adopted by Dinamo based on "financial sustainability."
The source concluded by stating: "Whatever the outcome of the deal, Dinamo cannot lose. Ismaël Bennacer has proven his value on the field, instilling confidence and vision in the group. If Boban succeeds in keeping him, the club may finally find the true leader it has been missing for years."
