Moamen Suleiman responds to death rumors
The Egyptian Moamen Suleiman, the coach of the police team, commented on the rumors that spread after the end of his team's match against Erbil, which ended with the latter winning by one goal to none in the opening of the fifth round of the Iraqi Stars League.
News circulated on social media after the match, claiming the death of the police coach, but the police club quickly denied these reports officially, confirming that the coach is fine.
Suleiman said in special statements: "The news that spread about my death was just silly rumors, and I do not know what the purpose or reason for spreading them is. Thank God I am fine, and I am currently in Baghdad enjoying good health. As for these rumors, I will leave the legal matters to the concerned people at the police club to pursue the perpetrators legally."
Regarding the loss against Erbil, Moamen Suleiman pointed out that physical fatigue was the main factor behind his team's poor performance.
He said: "Football is about winning and losing, and it is normal for such things to happen. Unfortunately, we did not present what qualifies us to win, and we did not create opportunities as we did in previous matches, as our team was not at its best, and things did not go well for us."
He added: "The players were exhausted after the match against Al-Ittihad Saudi in the AFC Champions League, so we made some changes, but even the substitutes were tired.
He continued: "We faced significant physical difficulties, and we were unable to implement our ideas against a team that was more prepared than us."
He concluded: "Erbil's goal came as a result of clear defensive mistakes, and I congratulate them on the win, as they played a wonderful tactical match, and their coach, Basem Qassem, read the game excellently, and our team did not even deserve a draw."
He ended his remarks by saying: "The upcoming phase requires us to quickly turn the page on the loss and focus on the next match on Thursday, as our schedule is busy and the competition is strong."
