Alonso: Vinicius was influential, and we know how to suffer and win
Monday 20-10-2025
Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso appeared at a press conference after the victory over Getafe with a score of one goal to nil in the ninth round of La Liga.

The coach said: "It was a difficult match full of challenges. We had to know how to compete and be ready for a match that wouldn't be the prettiest. The team performed strongly, was focused, and did what it had to do. Now we prepare for next week with positive energy."

He added: "Vinicius had a huge impact. We talked this morning about the possibility of him being important whether he started the match or came in later. He caused a lot of trouble for our opponent and forced them into mistakes and cards. It's important for everyone to realize that every player has an influential role, and today Vinicius was one of them."

He continued: "We are very happy with what Kylian Mbappe is providing; he is decisive with his goals and contributions to the play. Goals give us points, but we need everyone because behind them is a great collective effort."

He added: "Arda had a remarkable performance. We found him between the lines, and he succeeded in finding Kylian with great passes. His goal was crucial because the match was balanced. Arda and Bellingham can play in multiple positions, and we have diversity in styles. When Arda receives the ball in spaces, he makes a difference."

He noted: "Thibaut Courtois seems to be in good condition, while Alaba felt a strain in his calf muscle, and we didn't want to take a risk. We will evaluate his condition tomorrow."

Regarding Camavinga: "I really liked his performance, especially in the first half where we created superiority from the left side. We just lacked the final touch. In such a stadium, you need to be precise with second balls, and our opponent didn't pose a threat except from set pieces. He had a complete match."

On Courtois' crucial save in the final moments of the match: "We shouldn't have reached that situation with nine players, but Courtois saved us at the critical moment. He played his role brilliantly, and we left with the three points we wanted. Now it's over, and we'll think about the next match."

Regarding the match schedule: "Today was a very tough match, and we had to put in a lot of effort. It wasn't a pleasant match to watch or play, but we got through it, and from tomorrow we will start thinking about facing Juventus."

He concluded: "This team knows how to suffer and win."
