Police Issues Strict Directives Before Facing Al-Ittihad
The Police Club sent a reassuring message to its counterpart Al-Ittihad Saudi before the match that will bring the two teams together tomorrow evening, Monday, at the International City Stadium in the capital Baghdad, as part of the third round of the AFC Champions League for the elite.
It is expected that the match will witness a large public attendance, given the importance of the match and the status of the two teams in the tournament, amid intensive organizational preparations from both sides to ensure the match goes as smoothly as possible.
Special sources told winwin that "the management of the Police Club closely monitored what happened in terms of disputes and discussions between Iraqi and Saudi fans, following the match between the two national teams in the World Cup qualifying playoff, and also noted some reactions that tried to exploit the situation to insult the Saudi team before tomorrow's match."
The sources added: "The management of the Green Lyre issued strict directives to all its fan associations, as well as to other club associations that expressed their desire to attend and support, not to insult Al-Ittihad Saudi or chant slogans that go against the spirit of sportsmanship."
They clarified: "The officials of the associations confirmed their full commitment to these directives, emphasizing that the match will remain within the framework of fair competition on the green rectangle only."
The sources indicated that "the management of the Police Club is in continuous communication with its counterpart at Al-Ittihad Club, and has sent direct messages to reassure them about the atmosphere of the match and the reception in the capital Baghdad," adding: "The Police wants to present an honorable image of Iraqi organization and convey a clear message that the confrontation is nothing more than a normal competitive football match between two brotherly teams."
The sources continued: "All logistical and technical arrangements have been prepared to receive the Saudi Al-Ittihad delegation, which is scheduled to conduct its official training this evening at the International City Stadium before playing the match tomorrow, while the accommodation hotel has been prepared and transportation means secured away from the noise of the fans."
On the technical side, the Police team has regained the services of several players who were absent in the past period due to injury, as the last training session saw the participation of striker Salem Ahmed after completing his physical readiness, while defender Moses Lucas continues to be absent after officially ending his season due to an ACL injury, and Egyptian coach Moamen Soliman is expected to rely on player Munaf Younis as a substitute in the defense line.
