With the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 approaching, Paris Saint-Germain has started early preparations for the potential absence of their Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi, who will join his national team to defend the national colors in the continental tournament.

French reports have revealed that Spanish coach Luis Enrique is closely monitoring the young talent David Poli, who is 16 years old and is considered one of the standout players in the Parisian club's under-19 academy.

Poli has impressed Enrique for some time, to the extent that he included him in the team's European roster this season, despite not having played any official matches yet with the senior team. The player suffered a serious shoulder injury while representing the French national team under 17 in the European Championship last May, which prevented him from joining the summer preparations.

Enrique previously stated: "This young man got injured while representing his country, we wanted him with us, but he is too young and has plenty of time to develop."

Although Poli is not the first choice to replace Hakimi, given that the team has prominent names like Nuno Mendes, Warren Zaïre-Emery, and Marquinhos, internal reports within the club suggest that Enrique may give him a gradual opportunity to participate, preparing for his integration into the first team in the future.

Achraf Hakimi is expected to be absent from Paris Saint-Germain during the period from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, when the Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Morocco, which necessitates the coaching staff to find a reliable substitute capable of filling the void in the right-back position.
