Maiolo: We Achieved Victory Thanks to Teamwork and a Never-Give-Up Mentality
Seni Maiolo, the young player at Paris Saint-Germain, led his team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, after scoring the equalizer just before halftime in the 39th minute, demonstrating the confidence instilled in him by coach Luis Enrique.
Maiolo said: "They scored the first goal, but we never gave up and kept our composure. We knew we had to impose our style of play to come back and win the match. This is our identity as a team, and the mentality of never giving up no matter what happens, and the coach adds a lot to us every day."
He added about his goal: "My goal was the result of teamwork. Nuno Mendes made a great pass, I took off, I tried not to be offside, I controlled the ball and scored, but in the end, it was all about teamwork above everything else."
He also explained the role of the youth team: "I am not the captain of the team; we are all the same age or just a year apart. We try to stick together. It is an honor to see academy players participating in such matches. We work daily, and the coach trusts us."
