Conte: Facing Milan is a tough test, not a title match
Saturday 27-09-2025
Antonio Conte, the coach of Napoli, confirmed in the press conference before his team's match against Milan at San Siro in the fifth round of the Italian league, that the confrontation will be strong and difficult, but it is not classified as a title match at this early stage of the season.

Conte said: "After only five rounds, we cannot talk about title matches. At San Siro, we will face a direct competitor at the top, but it is too early to give definitive definitions just one month after the start of the tournament."

He added: "It is clear that facing teams with a history and tradition like Milan is always a major match. We respect all opponents whether they are Milan, Inter, or Juventus, but equally we respect all teams in the league. We are still at the beginning, and the road is long ahead of everyone."

He continued: "It will be a tough match, but it is also a great opportunity for the players. We strive to deliver a distinguished performance, and when you play in important venues like San Siro, you must be at the level of expectations and show your capabilities."

Regarding Milan as a title contender, Conte said: "I do not allow myself to define any team as a contender, but Milan, Juventus, and Inter have written the history of Italian football, and they will always remain champions of the league with their history and titles."

He added: "We must approach the match according to the preparation we have done, away from what we expect from Milan. We are not talking about the title after only five rounds; let's focus on the match, and time will clarify the course of the season. The tournament will be balanced, but we are still at its beginning."

Regarding absences, he clarified: "Rrahmani and Bonnygiorno will not be present tomorrow; it hasn't been a lucky week, but this is normal in the season, and we have to find solutions."

Conte concluded his remarks by saying: "I confirmed from the beginning that we have added new players, and they need patience to reach their maximum potential. Some will gain experience by playing in such matches. I regret the absence of our fans from the match, but we will also do our best for them."
