Friday 26-09-2025
Luis Enrique, the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke about the team's situation ahead of the match against Auxerre in Ligue 1, stressing the importance of continuing to develop and work despite absences.

Regarding the previous match against Marseille, Enrique said: "I believe we played well against Marseille and did not deserve to lose; we created enough chances to score and at least draw, but that is football, and we must accept the result."

On Marquinhos' injury, he added: "During the last play in the Marseille match, Marquinhos felt a slight pain, and that is why we do not want to take risks with him. It is normal for this to happen after a match with such intensity; it is unfortunate because he is our captain, but I believe we are ready."

Regarding the multiple injuries, he continued: "This is football, and this is the reality; injuries are a natural part of the game, especially at this level. I am not worried, and what I want is to convey this mentality to the players and the fans. We have outstanding players in the academy, and everything is planned by the club."

On Ousmane Dembélé and the Ballon d'Or, Enrique clarified: "We were chosen as the best team of the year, and this is the most beautiful recognition we deserve for what we did last season. As for Dembélé, seeing him at this level is fantastic; I still hold a picture of him lifting the Ballon d'Or and sharing that moment with our fans; I have never seen anything like it before."

On the team's mentality, the Spanish coach confirmed: "With my coaching staff, we always strive for development; we analyze everything that is positive and negative, regardless of the results. We are open to change, and the players have absorbed that. Their confidence and our ability to maximize their potential is a positive thing, and we are happy with this mentality."

Regarding the young players, Enrique concluded his statements by saying: "It is wonderful to see the feelings of the young players when they enter the first team's dressing room; they have the physical and technical capabilities to contribute to the team, and we are always thinking about relying on academy players because that is important for the club."
