Inter Miami officially announced the decision of their veteran Spanish player Sergio Busquets to retire from football at the end of the current season.

Busquets posted a video on his Instagram account saying: "These will be my last months on the field, I will retire very happy, proud, and satisfied. Thank you all, and to football for everything, you will always be part of this beautiful story."

Busquets is in his second season with Inter Miami after transferring on a free transfer from Barcelona, where he has played 105 matches for the team, scoring one goal and assisting 16 others.

Busquets' career with Barcelona is filled with achievements, having played 722 matches with the first team, scoring 18 goals and assisting 46, and winning 9 La Liga titles, 3 UEFA Champions League titles, 7 Copa del Rey titles, 7 Spanish Super Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, and 3 FIFA Club World Cups.

On the international level, Busquets won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 Euro with the Spanish national team, having played with the team from 2009 to 2022.

Thus, one of the most prominent Spanish midfielders in football history closes a chapter that combined local and international achievements, before bidding farewell to the pitches after a career that lasted more than 15 years with Barcelona and his final seasons in the American league.
