The Dismissals Begin Early in the Iraqi League
Wednesday 24-09-2025
The wave of dismissals has started early in the Iraqi Premier League, 'Iraq Stars League', despite only two rounds having passed since the start of the new season (2025-2026). This comes after some club administrations resorted to bold decisions due to declining results and failure to meet expectations.

Al-Qasim Club was the first to take the initiative to change its coaching staff after suffering two consecutive losses in the first and second rounds against Al-Naft (0-3) and Al-Karkh (1-2), placing them in the nineteenth position (second to last) in the standings.

The club's administrative body clarified in an official statement that they amicably agreed to terminate the contract with coach Wameed Munir and his assistants Shakir Mahmoud and Hussein Kamal, while goalkeeper coach Imad Hashim was excluded and will temporarily supervise the team until a new coach is appointed.

The club indicated that it seeks to quickly restore balance, announcing that entry for fans will be free for the upcoming match against Al-Amana Baghdad at the Nasiriyah International Stadium next Friday for the third round of the competition.

Duhok Club was not far from the wave of early decisions, as it also announced the dismissal of Brazilian coach Sergio Farias by mutual consent after the team suffered two consecutive losses against Al-Karma (0-1) and Al-Police (0-2).

The club added in its statement that it expressed its gratitude and appreciation to Farias for his work during the past period, before assigning coach Suleiman Ramadan with the task of leading the team in the Iraqi league and the Iraq Cup, with a commitment to provide full support to lift the team from its negative results.

Despite the losses, Duhok Club received a morale boost after its general body renewed confidence in club president Abdullah Jalal for a new four-year term, in a move aimed at enhancing administrative stability during the upcoming phase.

This scene shows that the pressure of results in the Iraq Stars League does not wait long, as club administrations are resorting to quick changes from the very beginning, which may make the current season one of the hottest in terms of coaching decisions.
