Tudor criticizes referee decisions after draw against Verona
Juventus drew 1-1 with Hellas Verona in the fourth round of the Italian league, in a match that witnessed refereeing controversy after two controversial decisions. The Bianconeri took the lead with a goal from Francesco Conceição before Hellas Verona was awarded a controversial penalty for a handball by João Mário.
Coach Igor Tudor expressed his dissatisfaction with the referee's decisions, stating: "The penalty that was awarded is disgraceful. How can it be given if the player didn't see the ball? This type of penalty doesn't exist; only someone who has never played football before can give it."
Tudor continued his criticism regarding the failure to send off Gift Orban after he elbowed Gatti, saying: "I was close and saw the incident myself; he didn't attack. This is the right way to go for the ball. I've never seen such two decisions before; I don't know what to say."
He added: "If a red card isn't given for that, I don't know when a red card is given. With the presence of VAR, these two decisions today are truly a disgrace."
Regarding his team's performance after the match, Tudor said: "We put in a lot in the last three matches, so the energy was limited today. The players gave everything they had and wanted to push forward. In some situations, we could have performed better, but I'm not angry. We have strengths and weaknesses, and you can't win every match."
Tudor also commented on the impact of the substitutes, saying: "We have to adapt. Zigrifa is not at his best yet, but those who came on tried. We put all our attacking potential on the field; we couldn't make the difference, but we tried."
