The Portuguese club Benfica has reached a verbal agreement with coach José Mourinho to take over the team's management until June 2027, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

According to Romano, Mourinho has accepted the offer, and the official steps and contract signing are expected to be completed within the next 24 hours, in a deal that extends for two years.

Mourinho's return to Benfica comes 25 years after his departure from the club, where he had a brief stint before embarking on a trophy-laden coaching career with major clubs such as Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Roma.

This appointment comes just a few weeks after Mourinho was dismissed from coaching Turkish club Fenerbahçe, marking the veteran coach's return to his homeland in a new chapter filled with anticipation and ambitions for Benfica's fans.
