Belgian coach Vincent Kompany expressed his happiness with his team's victory over Chelsea with a score of 3-1 in the first round of the Champions League group stage, in a match held at the Allianz Arena.

Kompany said after the match: "It was a very strong match, that's what I felt from the sidelines."

He added: "The players enjoyed themselves on the pitch and deserved the win. We have indeed faced tough opponents this season like Tottenham in the preseason, as well as Stuttgart and Leipzig. But we were aware that Chelsea is the Club World Cup champion."

The Belgian coach added: "The focus was great today, we played our way and did not lose our concentration. It was important to be aggressive without leaving large spaces or losing many duels, and we succeeded in that quite well."

Kompany concluded his remarks by affirming: "We will continue to work in the same manner and look forward to the upcoming matches."
