Yildiz: My Goal is Better than Del Piero's, and I'm Happy with What We Offer
The young Kinan Yildiz once again stole the spotlight with Juventus after scoring a spectacular goal against Borussia Dortmund during the thrilling UEFA Champions League match that ended in a dramatic 4-4 draw in Turin.
Yildiz scored Juventus' first equalizer with a brilliant curled shot with his right foot from outside the penalty area into the far top corner, a goal that recalled the club legend Alessandro Del Piero, who scored a similar goal with the same foot in the same stadium against Dortmund in 1995.
Ironically, Del Piero was present in the Sky Sport Italia studio analyzing the match, watching the revival of his famous mark.
Yildiz said after the match when comparing the two goals: "I think my goal was a little better (laughing). It was an instinctive shot; I received the ball and saw the space open for the shot. The moment it went into the net felt like it was happening in slow motion. I'm very happy with this beautiful goal and with the team's help."
As for Del Piero, he explained the technique he is famous for, saying: "When the ball goes out and then comes back in, not only from right to left but also from top to bottom, it becomes impossible for the goalkeeper. This double change in trajectory is what makes it unique."
Yildiz, who wears the number 10 jersey for Juventus this season, has become the focal point of the team's new project and its brightest star. He said: "In the Club World Cup, I felt I was in my best form with the team and the coach. We started the season well, and I always want to give my all to help my team. I feel a bit exhausted now, but I'm happy with what we are offering."
