Tudor: Ready for the Challenge and Excited for the Start of the Champions League Journey
Monday 15-09-2025
Igor Tudor, the head coach of Juventus, spoke about the significance of facing Borussia Dortmund in the opening of the Bianconeri's Champions League campaign, emphasizing that the match will be completely different from the friendly game that brought the two teams together earlier.

Tudor said: "Borussia Dortmund is a very strong team, not only in Germany but also in Europe. The previous friendly match cannot be compared to this game; now things are serious, the match is official and at the highest level, and we are excited to start our journey at home."

When asked about comparisons: "You are the ones making these comparisons. Yildiz doesn't go to sleep thinking about Del Piero. We've talked a lot about him, and we should let him live his life and continue on his path quietly. Will he be a starter? We will see."

Regarding the team's aspirations in the Champions League, Tudor said: "I don't like to talk about the long term; my focus right now is only on delivering a great match against Borussia. We need to play strong and look for the areas where we can hurt them. This is a tournament that includes the best teams, and matches are always tough."

About his relationship with the players, especially after Manuel Locatelli's praise, the Croatian coach joked: "Locatelli can't speak badly about me here; our relationship is good, but I always have to make tough decisions. Coaching is complicated, but I am lucky to have a wonderful group of players."

Regarding the recent match against Inter, he clarified: "We faced the strongest team in Serie A and managed to win even though we weren't at our best and faced some difficulties. I liked winning this way too."

Concerning the physical condition of some of his players, Tudor explained: "We haven't conducted the training session yet, so I can't determine the status of Bremer, Kaba, and Consisao right now."

On the possibility of making changes to the formation or style, he said: "Playing in Europe is different; the level is higher, and tactical styles in other leagues are less complex than Serie A. These are special matches, and I am still evaluating the available options before making my decisions."

When asked about his readiness for the Champions League, he confidently replied: "I feel completely ready for this task. I don't treat the Dortmund match differently from the Inter game; every match requires the utmost preparation."

Regarding his happiness with the goals scored by substitutes, he said: "This makes me very happy because it reflects the focus of the entire team, even those who are outside the starting lineup."

At the end of the conference, Tudor was asked about Andrea Cambiaso's condition, and he responded: "He is in good shape and trained excellently yesterday. He is very excited for the start of the Champions League. We have missed him a lot, along with Consisao, because they elevate the quality of the team. Their absence in the Inter match was impactful, and their return gives us a strong boost."
