Yurich Clarifies Lookman's Status for the Match Against Paris Saint-Germain

Atalanta's head coach, Ivan Yurich, confirmed that Nigerian international Ademola Lookman may not be included in the squad traveling to France to face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League, noting that the player's recent situation is not favorable for the club.

Yurich stated in his remarks after the 4-1 victory over Lecce in the third round of the Italian league: "Facing Paris Saint-Germain will be a great source of joy for us, as they are, in my opinion, the strongest team in the world right now. We need to be perfect and hope they are not at their best; we are confident in our ability to compete."

Regarding the possibility of Lookman being present for the Paris match, the Croatian coach clarified: "I don’t think so; it’s not a good and comfortable situation. He has given a lot to Atalanta, but Atalanta has also given him a lot. We need ready players who want to be present, care about the club, and want to improve. We will see what happens in the future."

Lookman's exclusion from the Lecce match was due to his lack of full commitment in training after his failed transfer to Inter Milan during the summer transfer window.

On the team's performance against Lecce, Yurich said: "The first half was difficult, but we regained our balance after the break and could have scored more goals. The players gave their all and deserve the win."

The Atalanta coach concluded by praising the star of the match, Charles De Ketelaere, who scored two goals and assisted another: "De Ketelaere is a wonderful young talent, possesses great quality, and works hard; I am happy with his performance."
