Adnan Darjal: The League Draw Was Fair and Conducted Through Global Companies
Friday 12-09-2025
The President of the Iraqi Football Federation, Adnan Darjal, emphasized the integrity and transparency of the draw for the Iraqi Stars League for the new season 2025-2026, confirming that it was conducted through global companies specialized in organizing such competitions, and the results cannot be questioned or considered unfair to any participating club.

Darjal stated in press statements:

"The draw was clear and transparent and was conducted according to a pre-agreed mechanism through specialized global companies, and this is conclusive evidence of its integrity and fairness to all. We at the federation reject any talk of interference or favoritism, as the work is institutional and supervised by neutral external parties."

He added:

"We understand that some clubs feel that their initial matches are difficult or congested, but this is the nature of the draw, and we have previously seen big clubs in global leagues face strong competitors at the beginning, and this does not mean there is injustice or bias."

Regarding the match schedule and the possibility of changes, Darjal firmly clarified:

"This season will be different from the previous one; we will not allow the postponement of matches under any circumstances, and the schedule has been set in a studied manner that ensures the smoothness of competition and equal opportunities. Clubs must prepare mentally and physically for the challenges and not look for early excuses."

Darjal's statement comes in the wake of public objections from some club presidents, including Haidar Shanshul, president of Al-Zawraa Club, who considered that the draw placed his team in very difficult tests from the early rounds against Al-Student, Al-Karkh, and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya consecutively, questioning why a system similar to that of the Spanish league was not adopted for distributing major matches.

However, Darjal concluded his remarks by emphasizing that "adhering to the established schedule will grant the league greater smoothness and competitiveness, and the real success for any club will be in how it deals with difficult matches, not in demanding their postponement or objecting to their timing."
