Jackson Responds to Hoeness
The Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson, who has recently joined Bayern Munich on loan from Chelsea, responded to comments made by Uli Hoeness, the honorary president of the Bavarian club.
Hoeness stated that Jackson would not receive a permanent contract with the Bavarian club. He clarified that the condition to activate the permanent purchase clause in the player's contract requires him to participate as a starter in 40 matches this season, which he deemed impossible due to the presence of Harry Kane in the starting lineup, along with Jackson's expected absence due to his participation with the Senegal national team in the Africa Cup of Nations next January.
Jackson commented on this today at his introductory press conference: "I know he is a great legend at the club and I have great respect for him. But that’s not my job. My job is to score as many goals as possible. The number of matches is not my focus."
It is worth noting that in a later interview with Sky Sport Germany, Hoeness defended his statements, confirming that he did not intend to undermine Jackson's value, but aimed to clarify the details of the player's contract and support sports director Max Eberl. He pointed out that Jackson and his agent contributed 3 million euros towards the loan deal, reducing the total cost to 13.5 million euros.
