Al Hilal's Stance on the Transfer of Marcos Leonardo to CSKA Moscow
Wednesday 10-09-2025
The management of Al Hilal Saudi Club has decided to reject the official offer made by CSKA Moscow to purchase the contract of Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo during the current summer transfer window.

The Russian offer was valued at around 25 million euros; however, the management of "The Leader" expressed its insistence on keeping the player and not entering into any further negotiations with the European club regarding the deal.

The Saudi newspaper "Al-Yawm" confirmed that the coaching staff, led by Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, played a crucial role in keeping Leonardo, as he insisted on having him in the squad participating in this season's AFC Champions League.

Inzaghi's insistence on the player comes despite his exclusion from the local team list in the Roshan Saudi League, due to exceeding the age limit for born players, and the lack of an additional slot to register him among the eight foreign players over the age limit.

Al Hilal is currently relying on Uruguayan Darwin Nunez, who came from Liverpool, to lead the attack after Leonardo's exit from the local list, alongside the departure of Serbian Aleksandar Mitrovic to Qatari club Al Rayyan.

With this decision, Al Hilal has officially closed the file on Marcos Leonardo's departure, allowing him to continue his journey with the team in the continental championship, reflecting the club's desire to enhance its chances of competing for the Asian title.
