Duhok Announces Modification of the Logo on Its New Jersey After Public Controversy
Wednesday 10-09-2025
The management of Duhok Football Club announced yesterday, Tuesday, about modifying the logo printed on the new jersey for the upcoming season, following a wave of controversy among fans on social media that followed the official unveiling of the design yesterday.

Club president, Abdullah Jalal, stated during a press conference that "the new jersey included a sun symbol, which raised objections from some fans who considered it to have a religious connotation associated with the Yezidi faith, while the regulations of the International Football Federation (FIFA) prohibit the use of religious symbols on club jerseys."

Jalal added that "the management responded quickly and decided to replace the sun image with another symbol taken from the flag of the Kurdistan Region, which is a sun with twelve rays, in order to end the controversy and avoid any legal or regulatory ambiguity."

The club president urged Duhok fans to stop the heated discussions that accompanied the announcement of the new jersey, emphasizing that the goal of the change is to maintain the club's identity while respecting international regulations at the same time.
