Monday 08-09-2025
The Brazilian club Bahia has agreed to transfer its Uruguayan winger Luciano Rodriguez to the Saudi club Neom for €22 million, in what is considered the highest deal in the history of the Brazilian club owned by the City Group.

Sources from the Brazilian network "Globo" reported that the deal includes €20 million as a base value and €2 million in add-ons, making the player on the verge of signing a long-term contract with the Saudi team for five years.

The sources confirmed that the clubs have already exchanged documents, and once Rodriguez passes the medical examination, he will officially become a player for Neom, immediately focusing on participating in the new season's competitions.

Bahia had attracted the 22-year-old player in mid-2024 for about €10 million, coming from the Uruguayan club Liverpool, becoming one of the rising talents in Uruguay.

Rodriguez scored 13 goals and provided one assist during the 2025 season with Bahia in 47 matches, confirming his significant impact on the Brazilian team before moving to Saudi Arabia.

With his joining the Saudi league, Rodriguez will become the third Uruguayan player in the competition after his national teammates Darwin Nunez with Al Hilal and Nathan Nandez with Al Qadsiah, enhancing the presence of Uruguayan players in the local league.
