Hakimi Between Gold and History... A Dream Bigger than the Ballon d'Or
Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi, right-back for Paris Saint-Germain, revealed the most significant dream of his football career, confirming that his ambition exceeds the limits of competing for the Ballon d'Or, extending to leading the national team towards winning a major championship.
Hakimi stated in an interview with the National newspaper: "My dream now is to win the World Cup or the Africa Cup of Nations with the Moroccan national team; this is more important than any individual achievement."
The Moroccan international had an exceptional season (2024-2025) with PSG, culminating in a historic quintuple that included the French league, the French Cup, the UEFA Champions League, the French Super Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. In 55 matches, he scored 11 goals and assisted 16 others, placing him among the top three candidates for the Ballon d'Or alongside his teammate Ousmane Dembélé and Barcelona player Lamine Yamal.
On the international level, Hakimi (85 international matches, 11 goals, 12 assists) continues to make history with the "Atlas Lions," having contributed to reaching the semi-finals of the Qatar World Cup 2022 and winning the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. He is currently preparing to lead the national team in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, alongside continuing the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, where the "Lions" top their group with a perfect score (15 points).
Hakimi is close to etching his name among the giants of football, as he could become the first Moroccan player to combine the Ballon d'Or with a continental or global title with his national team.
