Algeria's Opportunities and Scenarios for Official Qualification Two Rounds Before the End
Tuesday 02-09-2025
The Algerian national team is preparing to continue its journey in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, through two important matches during the current month of September.

The Greens will host the Botswana team on Thursday at the "Hussein Ait Ahmed" stadium in Tizi Ouzou, before facing Guinea on Monday in the city of Casablanca, Morocco.

The Algerian national team has a great opportunity to secure its early qualification for the World Cup, provided they win the next two matches, alongside the setbacks of their direct competitors.

To officially guarantee a ticket to the tournament, the Greens must collect all points against Botswana and Guinea, along with Mozambique stumbling against Uganda, and the Ugandan team not gaining more than two points during the September rounds.

The Algerian team leads Group Seven with 15 points, three points ahead of Mozambique (12 points), while Uganda occupies third place with nine points, followed by Guinea with seven points, and Somalia sits at the bottom of the table with one point.

It is worth noting that Algeria has previously participated in four editions of the World Cup, the first being in Spain in 1982, then Mexico in 1986, before returning again in South Africa in 2010, achieving its best performance in Brazil 2014 by reaching the Round of 16.

After missing the last two editions, the Desert Warriors are striving to return to the global stage through the 2026 qualifiers.
