Flick: We Made Many Mistakes, and We Must Play Without Arrogance
Monday 01-09-2025
The head coach of FC Barcelona, Hans Flick, expressed his dissatisfaction with his team's performance following the 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano in the match held on Sunday evening as part of the third round of La Liga at the Teresa Rivero Stadium.

Flick said: "We lacked sharpness in our performance and made many mistakes; we could have delivered a better match, and we could have scored a second goal in the first half, but Rayo played well, and I am not happy with the team's performance today."

Regarding the video technology and the opponent's performance, he added: "The video technology should work, there are no excuses; I do not know what happened today, but it was not used, and this is not my responsibility."

He continued: "Rayo Vallecano managed to exploit our mistakes, and we can only blame ourselves; we need to correct these issues in the upcoming matches."

He continued: "I congratulate Joan Garcia; he had a great match and was very confident with the ball, played without mistakes, and showed remarkably; I am very happy with what he presented."

He added: "I spoke with the players after the match; most of them will now join their national teams. What matters to me is that after the transfer market closes, everyone must be 100% committed. It is essential to put the ego aside because arrogance kills the chances of success."

Regarding the pitch and the team's reliance on Yamal, he said: "I am not looking for excuses; it is true that the pitch was not the best, but that is not an excuse; we need to control the ball better."

He added: "Lamine is an important player, but he is not the only one; we have many distinguished elements, and after the international break, we will work more on improving the collective performance."
