Guardiola After the Defeat to Brighton: We Forgot How to Play After the Goal
Sunday 31-08-2025
The Spanish manager, Pep Guardiola, commented on his team's loss to Manchester City against Brighton with a score of 2-1 in the third round of the English Premier League, in a match where City took the lead first through Haaland, before Brighton turned the tables and achieved victory.

Guardiola said: "We were excellent for a full hour, but after scoring the goal we forgot how to play, we started thinking about the consequences, and this also happened against Tottenham, we started well and then lost, despite that, I liked what we presented today and against Tottenham."

He added: "The season is still in its early stages, we have a very long way to go, it is too early to make judgments after only three matches, there are many events awaiting us."

He continued: "We cannot talk about competing for the title at the moment, we have to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks."

He went on: "Haaland is our main threat in attack, in the Premier League you can concede goals, but we are also capable of scoring many of them."

He added: "We have a very good team, we made many changes this season, and that is normal, we need new players to adapt, and we need the support of experienced players to help them."

He pointed out: "Rodri performed excellently, he is a player with a strong personality, and I am happy that he completed 90 minutes, I believe he is also ready to play with his national team, and we hope he avoids injuries."

With these statements, Guardiola affirmed his confidence in the team's project despite the rocky start, noting the need for patience in evaluating the season.
