Norwegian star Erling Haaland continues to write his name in the World Cup records, having become the sixth player in the history of the tournament to score more than one goal in each of his first two matches in the World Cup, according to Opta statistics.

This achievement came during the Norway vs. Senegal match in the second round of the group stage, which sees Norway leading 3-1 so far, with Markus Pedersen opening the scoring in the 43rd minute.

Haaland added the second goal in the 48th minute, before Senegal came back to score their first goal in the 53rd minute through Ismaila Sarr, then Haaland scored the third goal for his country and his second in the 58th minute.

According to the historical statistics of the World Cup, Haaland became only the sixth player to succeed in scoring more than one goal in each of his first two matches in the tournament, joining a list that includes prominent names throughout World Cup history such as Guillermo Stabile, Sandor Kocsis, Just Fontaine, Grzegorz Lato, and Harry Kane.

This achievement reflects Haaland's strong start in his World Cup participation, as he continues to deliver remarkable scoring performances that enhance his position among the top strikers in the world during the 2026 World Cup.
