Veteran Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta arrived in Sevilla today, Friday, to finalize his contract with the Andalusian club.
The 36-year-old player joins Sevilla on a free transfer after leaving Atletico Madrid this summer.
Azpilicueta, the former Chelsea star, will sign a one-season contract with Sevilla, with the option to extend for a second season depending on his performance.
This deal is largely beneficial for Sevilla not only because it is free, but also due to the salary the player will receive, which will be around 2 million euros in total for the season, a very low figure compared to the approximately 8 million euros per season he received at Atletico Madrid.
