Longoria Clarifies Marseille's Position on Ceballos Deal Failure
Thursday 28-08-2025
Pablo Longoria, the president of Marseille, expressed his vision for his team's path in the 2025/2026 Champions League, and he also spoke about the details of the failed contract with Dani Ceballos, a player from Real Madrid, confirming that the relationship between the two clubs remained respectful despite the deal falling through.

In his statements, Longoria said: "This is the nature of the market; we always try to look for good opportunities. The relationship with Real Madrid was based on great respect, and everything went well between the two institutions, but different circumstances arise sometimes and opinions change. There's no need to dwell on the past."

Longoria continued his discussion about his predictions for the Champions League this season: "Thanks to the high level of English clubs and their adaptation to the new tournament system, I believe that one of the English teams is the strongest candidate to win the title."

Regarding the Ballon d'Or, Longoria chose not to mention a specific name, but he indicated that he believes the award should go to someone who has previously won the tournament, refusing to mention any name related to Paris Saint-Germain due to the strong rivalry between the two clubs.

He also expressed his happiness at the opportunity to face Real Madrid in the league stage, saying: "Playing at the Santiago Bernabéu is always enjoyable; Real Madrid is a great club, and the match will be difficult. It's wonderful to return to Spain."
