On Tuesday evening, Al-Hazm Saudi Club announced the completion of its contract with international goalkeeper Bruno Varela, a player for the Cape Verde national team, to be the new guardian of the team's goal with a contract extending for two years with an option to extend for an additional season.

The club's management revealed that the deal comes as part of plans to strengthen the team's squad in preparation for the Saudi Professional League competitions, confirming that Varela was chosen for his extensive experience and remarkable performance in European leagues.

Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper had previously reported, specifically on July 2, that Al-Hazm had entered into serious negotiations with the Portuguese-born goalkeeper, who plays for the Cape Verde national team.

Varela played 34 official matches last season with his team in the Portuguese league, achieving a total of 3060 minutes played, and contributed to his team's sixth-place finish in the standings, while also wearing the captain's armband throughout the season.

With the completion of this deal, Al-Hazm has secured a strong addition to its defense line, as the coaching staff relies on the new goalkeeper's experience to lead his teammates on the field and enhance the team's competitiveness in the upcoming season.
