Iraqi national team player Peter Korkis, who is 24 years old, is going through a sensitive period in his professional career after facing difficulty in settling his future with Duhok club, due to his desire to seek a new destination away from the team.

Korkis's return to Duhok comes after Iraqi national team coach Graham Arnold set a clear condition for players wishing to participate in the qualifying playoff for the 2026 World Cup, which is to continue playing regularly with their teams or to be part of the starting lineup to ensure full readiness. Because of this condition, Korkis had to make the decision to return quickly and join Duhok's training within 48 hours, after being absent from the team since June, despite being under contract until the summer of 2026.

The player confirmed that he aims to maintain his place in the Iraqi national team and not lose his chance for international participation, while he sought to avoid any potential sanctions from FIFA or the impact on his technical level due to a long absence from matches.

For its part, the Duhok club management has opened a new page with the player, acknowledging his exceptional capabilities and his technical importance within the team, especially since Brazilian coach Sergio Farias sees Korkis as a strong addition to enhance the team's ambitions in competing for the title of the Iraqi Premier League.

It is worth noting that Peter Korkis played 24 matches out of 36 with Duhok last season, scoring 7 goals and providing 7 assists, and was one of the key elements in winning the Gulf Champions Cup and the Iraqi Cup, making his return to the team an important step to maintain his level and continuity of performance with the national team.
