Contrary to expectations that Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech would return to the Dutch league through FC Twente, the Moroccan star is close to embarking on a new experience in the Turkish Super League.

According to CNN Türk, newly promoted club Gençlerbirliği has opened negotiations with the player's agent to sign him during the current summer transfer window, as part of its efforts to strengthen its squad with players of international experience.

The same sources indicated that discussions are still ongoing regarding the details of the potential deal, while the Turkish club is trying to convince Ziyech of its ambitious project.

It is worth mentioning that Ziyech has not been linked with any team since leaving Qatari club Al-Duhail in the summer of 2025, after a short stint that lasted no more than six months, despite his name being mentioned in negotiations with clubs from Italy, Spain, and Saudi Arabia.
