Thomas Frank Proud of Players' Performance Despite Super Cup Loss
Thursday 14-08-2025
Thomas Frank, the head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, expressed pride in his players' performance despite losing the European Super Cup 2025/2026 title to Paris Saint-Germain, in a match that ended in a 2/2 draw in regular time, before being decided in favor of the French team by penalties 4/3.

Frank stated in his remarks after the match: "I think we played a great game against one of the best teams in the world, and perhaps the best currently."

He added: "We controlled the game for almost 80 minutes, even until the equalizing goal, and then things changed a bit."

He continued: "What the team, the players, the club, and the fans are doing is something to be proud of, and penalties are always like a coin toss."

He went on: "We showed great resilience and adaptability during the match, and we needed that against a team like Paris Saint-Germain. The high and low defense was almost perfect, and set pieces were a very strong weapon."

He confirmed: "Set pieces were the key to our success, and we will continue to focus on them as they are a fundamental element for any team. We have shown our ability at times to match any team in the world, which is a positive point we will benefit from."

Regarding Tottenham's movements in the summer transfer market, Frank added: "We want to strengthen the team, there is no doubt about that. We are working hard to see if we can achieve that. Overall, I am very happy with the squad, but in every transfer window, we look for ways to improve before the market closes."

As for the upcoming match against Burnley in the opening of the Premier League next Saturday: "It is a short transitional period, and of course there will be disappointment over the next 24 hours, but we will be ready. When I wake up tomorrow and on Friday, we will be more prepared, and our goal is to be at our best on Saturday."
