Arteta Awaits Timber's Return Before Champions League Final

Thursday 14-05-2026
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his hope to have Dutch defender Jurrien Timber back before the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, noting that the player has made progress in recent days in his recovery journey from a thigh muscle injury.

Arsenal received another blow with the confirmation that Ben White will be out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury, which might also prevent him from participating in the World Cup. Timber has not played with the team since the match against Everton last March, after suffering a setback during his recovery stages despite being close to returning at the end of last month.

Arteta said that Timber is "giving his all" to be ready for the final match scheduled for May 30 in Budapest, emphasizing that the player is a very important element within the team, both for his technical quality and his leadership personality. The Spanish coach added that there is a "chance" for his participation, but he cannot determine the likelihood of it happening at the moment.

In light of the defensive absences, Arteta is expected to rely on Cristian Mosquera in the right-back position during the upcoming match against Burnley. Arteta also praised the recent fan atmosphere, emphasizing that the strong support from Arsenal fans before the Champions League matches provided the players with extra energy and a clear moral boost.
