Erbil Club officially announced its contract with the veteran Iraqi coach Basim Qassem to lead the first team, succeeding the previous coach Samir Babo.

Basim Qassem has an impressive coaching record in the local arena, having coached several of the most prominent Iraqi clubs, such as Al-Zawraa, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, Al-Nafit, and Al-Talaba, in addition to his previous leadership of the Iraqi national team, achieving results and accomplishments that have left a clear mark on his career.

Coach Basim Qassem stated in remarks he made to the club's media center:

He said: "I am happy to return to the atmosphere of the Iraqi league through Erbil Club, which is considered one of the important clubs in the country, and I will strive hard to bring the team back to its natural position at the top of the standings."

He added:

"My project with Erbil will be comprehensive from a technical perspective, and we will start working immediately to build a strong team capable of competing, relying on experienced and young players."

This contract represents a turning point in the path of Erbil Club, which seeks to present a different season after the changes that have affected the coaching staff, amidst great hopes from fans to restore the glories the team experienced in previous years under the leadership of great coaches.

It is worth noting that Basim Qassem has previously won several local championships and is considered one of the most prominent coaching names in Iraq over the past two decades, due to his experience and technical acumen proven in various stages.
