Referee announces Erbil's victory in Gulf Club Champions League after Al-Ettifaq's absence
The decision came after the inability of the Al-Ettifaq delegation to travel to Iraq, despite the club management's attempts to postpone the match and change its date by officially addressing the Gulf Club Champions League and providing its justifications.
Al-Ettifaq confirmed in a previous statement that its management has made continuous efforts to address the situation, with support from the Saudi Football Federation, but it received a response rejecting the postponement and maintaining the scheduled match date.
The club has confirmed that it coordinated with the relevant authorities before determining that its delegation could not be in the city of Erbil, Iraq, to play the match as scheduled, prompting it to renew its request for a postponement.
Al-Ettifaq has requested the Gulf Club Football Association to reconsider its position and review the request in accordance with the approved regulations and procedures, given the circumstances that prevented the team from traveling to Iraq and participating in the match.
The referee of the match between Al-Ettifaq and Erbil announced the victory for the Iraqi team after the Saudi club was absent from the match scheduled for Wednesday evening, as part of the Gulf Club Champions League, leading to Al-Ettifaq being considered withdrawn.
