Tuesday 05-08-2025
The Brazilian Mailson dos Santos, goalkeeper of Al-Taawoun team, has continued his final steps in the rehabilitation program, preparing to return to the pitch after a serious injury that sidelined him from the team since February.

The goalkeeper is close to completing his readiness, having entered the final stage of treatment after undergoing surgery to repair the external cartilage of his knee, which was injured during a match against Al-Wakrah of Qatar in the AFC Champions League.

Sources reveal that the medical staff is optimistic about the goalkeeper's condition, with expectations for his full return before the start of the new season's competitions, making him an available option for Brazilian coach Prickles Shamoska.

On the camp front, the team suffered its second loss during the ongoing preparation period in the Netherlands, falling to Al-Duhail of Qatar with a score of two goals to none in a friendly match held on Monday evening.

Al-Taawoun had started its camp with a friendly match against Al-Ahli of Qatar on July 30, which ended in a 1-1 draw, as part of the team's preparations for the upcoming football season.

The last match was attended by the new club president, Bader Al-Ghannam, from the stands, after his arrival at the camp site in the Netherlands, accompanied by board member Bandar Al-Mana.

Al-Ghannam, who was recently elected as the president of Al-Taawoun, met with the coaching staff led by Shamoska and the players before the match, as part of his direct support and close monitoring of the team's preparations.

Al-Ghannam's visit reflects the new administration's interest in creating the ideal atmosphere for the players, striving for a strong start to the season, especially with the return of influential elements like goalkeeper Mailson.
